An original watercolour of a Gentoo penguin, hand painted by Orkney-based artist Una Hurst.

Gentoos first arrived at Port Lockroy in the 1980s and have been coming back every year since then to nest and raise their chicks. Curious, friendly and colourful, they are the fastest-swimming diving birds in the world, their flippers and streamlined bodies helping them reach speeds of up to 22 miles an hour.
