Antarctica has some of the most hostile weather on earth, and our team must make regular repairs to keep the sites safe. The past two years of the pandemic have prevented us from carrying out this vital work, and two Antarctic winters of biting winds, snow, salt air and ice have taken their toll.
We arrived expecting to repair two windows but found all twenty-one to be in a bad condition.
You can play your part in supporting this conservation work today. Sponsor one of Bransfield House’s twenty-one windows and help transform it back to pristine condition. We will give it some proper TLC to international heritage standards including restoring the lovely red and white paint.
The UK Antarctic Heritage Trust works to conserve Antarctic buildings and artefacts, and to promote and encourage the public's interest in its Antarctic Heritage. Every donation we receive helps us fund this important work.
