Hits from the Hut CD
Past Perfect
A digitally-remasteredcollection of music listened to at PortLockroy in the 1930s & 40s. The tracks on this CD have been carefullydigitised, and include 7 recordings from the 78s at Port Lockroy, alongside 13other songs found in the hut, performed by popular artists of the day.
Their taste was eclectic - fromthe droll social observations of Noel Coward to the witty ditties of comedianGeorge Fornby. We don’t think the irony of Coward’s ‘Mad Dogs and Englishman GoOut in the Midday Sun’ would have been lost on the intrepid groups of men whooverwintered in the blindingly cold South.
